The lenses in our eyes are amazing, when we are younger they can change their shape to focus at different distances, from the age of about 45 our lenses start to harden and we start to lose this ability. This condition is called Presbyopia, unfortunately we will all suffer from it. For prescription glasses wearers varifocals, bifocals and multiple pairs of glasses are common solutions to this problem
TaskMaster is a new innovative alternative for those frustrated with not being able to see as well as they used to with their current eyewear solution.
From the age of about 45 we all start to lose our ability to focus at near and intermediate distances. Taskmaster is a new alternative to the traditional solutions to this problem. It is designed specifically for those frustrated with not being able to see as well as they used to with their current eyewear solution – varifocals, occupational eyewear or wearing multiple pairs of glasses.
Our research studies showed that up to 25% of presbyopes are not entirely satisfied with their current prescription eyewear, stating frustrations with the quality of their vision at different distances or physical discomfort.
Typical candidates say:
• I suffer from neck ache if I use my computer for too long.
• I don’t like the swim in the bottom of the lens, especially when I am walking downstairs.
• I sometimes have to hunt to find the sweet spot with my varifocals, especially using my computer.
• I use different glasses for different tasks, but I never have the right pair to hand.
• With the stronger varifocals I miss the field of view I used to have with my old glasses.
TaskMaster is designed specifically to overcome these frustrations.
TaskMaster eyewear uses a unique dual lens system combined with premium varifocal design to allow you to switch between different focal zones (Outlook, Social and Personal) giving you a better field of view, sharper focus and more comfortable vision in each of the zones. Simply put, it’s three pairs of glasses in one.
Our trials showed that 77% of people who were frustrated with their current solution found Taskmaster was a better solution and gave them the freedom and flexibility to live their day to day life in focus, whatever the task.
Our research showed that life broadly happens in 3 focal zones outlined below. The TaskMaster lens system is designed to switch between each on these zones and give you a better field of view, sharper focus and more comfortable vision in each of them.
THE OUTLOOK ZONE
Focus from 70cm out to distance
Designed for distance vision for driving, watching TV or walking combined with the ability to see clearly at arms-length so you can see the dashboard, the remote controls or messages on your phone.
THE SOCIAL ZONE
Focus from 50cm out to 1.7m
Designed for intermediate distances like meetings and eating. Allowing you to see the faces of the people around you as well as your laptop, the menu or the food on your plate.
THE PERSONAL ZONE
Focus from 35cm out to 80cm
Specifically designed to work comfortably for both computing and reading as well as hobbies.
Simply put, TaskMaster is three pairs of glasses in one that allows you to easily switch between the zones and access clear vision at every distance.

Adlens is a lens technology business based in Oxford. Over the last 16 years, we have been inspired by the workings of the human eye and have become world leaders in adaptive focus lens technologies with over 180 published patents. We have used our know-how across different fields but the one thing they all have in common is helping people access better vision. We have developed simple, affordable adjustable eyewear for the developing world. Worked with large technology partners to re-engage the visual systems natural responses to virtual content, helping make VR more immersive and true mixed reality in AR a real possibility. Our other obsession has always been looking for better ways to give people back the near and intermediate vision we all lose as we get older.
From the point of receiving your order from your optician, it will take us up to 15 working days to build and prepare your bespoke TaskMasters ready to be dispensed.

• Combined powers of -6.50D to +4.5D
• Prism max 2.0D in each eye
• CYL max –4.0D
• Reading Add Powers available : 1.75D, 2.25D, 2.75D and 3.25D [Note: This refers to the maximum power that will be available in the bottom of the progressive lens in the Personal Zone]
• PD range covered by the Aero-Ti collection: 55 to 71mm
• Adding CYL or decentration will increase mass & thickness.
• At the extremes of this range the maximum weight of the lens set will be 26g and maximum point edge thickness will be 7.3mm. All other prescriptions will be well below these numbers.
Prescribing TaskMaster is the same as prescribing a normal progressive. We just need to have the Rx, PD, fitting height and the reading addition.
The Aero-Ti rimless range is available in 6 styles covering a range of face fits. For specific fitting details please look at the specification of individual frames. All Aero-Ti frames are designed with a 7 degree face form and 8 degree pantoscopic angle.
• A Dimensions range from 48 – 52mm
• B Dimensions range from 32 – 40mm
• DBL range from 16 to 18mm
• Temple length is 142mm
Yes. In TaskMaster, we have used the balance of power between the moving rear lens, the static front lens and the Alvarez lens to reduce the effect of lens power on vergence. In short, TaskMaster behaves more like not wearing glasses so it improves near vision comfort in presbyopes.
• Optical centration is prescribed and dispensed in the normal way. Across the Aero-Ti range a full range of PDs from 55 to 71mm can be catered for.
• Fitting height is prescribed and dispensed in the normal way. Across the Aero-Ti range the nominal fitting position is aligned with the underside of the nose bridge. The height can vary +/-3mm from this position.
All our lenses have a premium AR and easy-clean coating to ensure minimal degradation from reflections and contamination of the lens surfaces. Whilst there are more lens surfaces than in a traditional lens, the inner surfaces become contaminated far less quickly by dust, eyelash grease and accidental touching. The reflections created by the inner surface don’t share the shape of the outer surfaces, so the reflection strength is not increased.
The combination of a premium varifocal and the Alvarez PowerShift lens system in TaskMaster enables a wider field of view compared with an equivalent prescription premium varifocal.
The reduced level of distortion and swim in TaskMaster, due to the lower power premium varifocal, improves peripheral awareness in all modes over a single-element premium varifocal.
The ABBE number of the MR8 lenses is high. The dual lens system makes no difference to colour separation in the lenses. The colour dispersion depends on the total lens power and distance off-axis so TaskMaster will react in exactly the same way as other eyewear.
As with any rimless design, patients may initially be aware of reflections from the lens edge, but soon get used to them. For near work, the lenses adjust toward the nose, removing the lens edge from view and helping with near-distance comfort.
Currently, this is not possible, the lens system has been designed specifically for this frame geometry, with appropriate decentration and aspheric optimization for the wearer. In addition, the mechanism that allows the rear lens to move is an integral part of the frame design.
